[Seoul, 12th Reuters]–POSCO, a major Korean steel company, announced on the 12th that it will suspend operations at some factories from the 13th due to the continued large-scale strikes by truck drivers. There is no longer a place to temporarily store products that can no longer be shipped.

Hyundai Motor is also forced to reduce production due to the shortage of parts due to this strike.

A POSCO spokeswoman said, “We are poised to stop production to some extent at our multiple factories in Pohang. It is not yet clear how long the suspension period will be,” he said. Added.

The truck driver union, which started the strike on the 7th, has held four meetings with the government and has continued discussions. The union is looking for an extension of subsidies to maintain the minimum wage that expires by the end of the year in the face of rising fuel prices.

According to government estimates, as of 11th, about 6,600 truck drivers, or 30% of union members, have participated in the strike. As a result, transportation activities at the petrochemical facility in Ulsan (Ulsan) have stopped, and POSCO’s product delivery work has been delayed.
