the NFL Draft will be here before we know it. We have already increased our interim coverage and plan to extend coverage in the coming weeks.
I will do more drafts but, for the moment, on March 30, I want to present my choices for the Raiders’Two first round picks.
Again, this is subject to change, these are just my thoughts right now.
# 12, CeeDee Lamb, WR, Oklahoma:
Chances are the Raiders will have their choice of wide receivers, which is their greatest need. The best receivers – in a class of extremely solid receivers – are widely regarded as Lamb, as well as Jerry Jeudy and Henry Ruggs III of Alabama. It’s hard to determine which teams will prefer which players, but I think Lamb checks all the boxes that Jon Gruden and Mike Mayock are looking for. It seems to adapt perfectly to this system, so, for now, that’s where I think the Raiders are looking.
# 19, Grant Delpit, S, LSU: I feel less sure of this choice, but that’s why it goes so far in the project. I just feel like Mayock could push for this player. Is cornerback a more important need than security? Perhaps, but if Delpit is better than the available cornerbacks, it would be a good fit and pairing with the 2019 first round pick Johnathan Abram. Abram and Delpit could essentially play their careers together as a Las Vegas high school back patrol. In addition, Delpit seems to be a typical Mayock choice. He is a good producer of a large-scale program. If Florida cornerback C.J. Henderson is available, he would be the choice, I think he may have left.
