Raytheon Wins $1.2 Billion Concession to Produce NASAMS Missiles for Ukraine

The United States has approved the delivery of eight NASAMS air defense systems to Ukraine. The first two units were delivered to Kiev in November, with the rest to be delivered in the coming months.

The six NASAMS systems are part of the fifth part of the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (UDAI) package, which was announced on August 24 and has a total value of $2.98 billion.

The concession includes the production of NASAMS launchers and rockets, training and logistics services for the Ukrainian military and security forces.

Douglas Bush, Deputy Secretary of the US Army, the Department of Acquisition, Logistics and Technology told reporters last week that the US military is accelerating the procurement process to replenish America’s depleted arsenal by sending weapons to help Ukraine fight in against Russia.

The Pentagon says the NASAMS system supplied by the United States to Ukraine is 100 percent effective in intercepting Russian missiles.

The United States has pledged more than $19.3 billion in security aid to Ukraine since Biden became president.
