Red Bull F1 strategist Hannah Schmitz wins 1st McLaren Female Engineer of the Year Award | Formula1-Data / F1 Information and Breaking News Commentary

Hannah Schmitz, Chief Strategic Engineer of Red Bull Racing, who competes in Formula 1, has won McLaren’s 1st Qualifying Female Engineer of the Year award at the 2022 World Motorsport Symposium.

The trophy, which is aimed at female motorsport engineers with at least three years’ experience, was presented at a ceremony held at the luxury Mosiman’s Club hotel in London on Thursday 1 December.

“The judges were impressed by her strategic ability and success in making secondary decisions under pressure,” said McLaren.

After studying mechanical engineering at Cambridge University, Schmitz joined Red Bull Racing as an intern in 2009. He now supports Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez behind the scenes with Race Strategy Officer Will Courtney and the Strategy Team.
