Referee Turpin, who issued a warning to coach Kyu-Sung Cho and Bento, has been assigned to the match against Brazil

Referee Clement Turpin (France) has been assigned as the referee for the round of 16 match between Korea and Brazil at the Qatar 2022 World Cup. This is the referee who issued a yellow card to Cho Kyu-seong (Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors) and coach Paulo Bento in the first match of Group H against Uruguay.

According to the list of referees published by FIFA on the morning of the 4th (Korea time), referee Turpin will serve as the referee for the match between Korea and Brazil which will be held at Stadium 974 in Doha, Qatar at 4 am on the 6th. Referee Turpin served as the referee for the game between Korea and Uruguay, at which time Uruguay was given one warning and South Korea was given one. In Korea, coach Kyu-Sung received Cho and Bento, who protested against the decision.

Referee Turpin has been active in the French professional football league 1 since 2008 and was selected as the best referee by the French Football Association in 2016. He has served as an international referee since 2010 and participated in the Championship European Football 2016 (Euro 2016), Rio de Janeiro Olympics 2016, Under-17 World Cup 2017, and Russia World Cup 2018. Along with referee Turpin, referees Nicola Dano and Cyril Gringor (above France), who were in charge of the match between Korea and Uruguay, were reassigned as assistant referees for the Brazil match.
