The positive effect of vaccination against BCG tuberculosis on immunity against CIVID-19 was confirmed by the academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, director of the St. Petersburg Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology named after Pasteur Areg Totolyan.

The meeting of the Scientific Council of the Russian Academy of Sciences “Life Sciences” on the theme: “Coronavirus-a global challenge to science” was held on Thursday in a teleconference.

“People who received the BCG vaccine at one time have the so-called trained immunity,” the scientist said. – This phenomenon was described not so long ago, in 2016.

Now, according to the academician, a special study of this phenomenon has begun in Australia and the Netherlands.
