Shot at Point Blank | Trinamool Leader Shot At Point-Blank | Anupam Dutta Murder

Kolkata: A Trinamool Congress councilor has been shot dead by a hired killer in West Bengal. Anupam Dutta, Trinamool councilor of Panihatti municipality in Parganas district, was killed. On Sunday evening, while talking to an acquaintance in the back seat of a scooter on North Station Road in Agarpara, the killer came from behind and shot at Point Blank.

Commissioner of Police Manoj Kumar told mediapersons that the hired killer Shambhunath Pandit was arrested on the basis of CCTV footage. Anupam Dutta was rushed to a private hospital with serious head injuries but could not save his life. More police were deployed as tensions persisted in the area.

Jalda Municipality Congress councilor Tapan Kandu was similarly killed in Purulia district of West Bengal. Four-time Congress councilor Tapan Kandu was shot dead during an evening ride. Leaders of both parties responded that the two killed were the beloved leaders of the people. The Trinamool Congress has termed Anupam Dutta as the leader who has posed the biggest challenge to the BJP locally and called it a political assassination. Nepal Mahato, a Congress leader in Purulia, said Tapan Kandu’s was also a political assassin.
