Southampton’s Twitter account issued a joke warning to Liverpool ‘after former Reds striker Danny Ings scored twice in the Saints’ 3-1 win over Watford on Sunday.
The English international moved to St Mary’s permanently under a £ 20m contract last summer following a successful lending campaign with the club, and has been even better this year .
One of the Premier League strikers before the forced three-month hiatus due to the coronavirus pandemic, Ings has scored three goals in three games since picking up the elite to total 21 for the season.
And after Southampton’s victory over Watford, the club’s Twitter account responded to a Liverpool fan asking if the Reds could re-sign the attacker, saying, “You have had enough of us …”
Liverpool have recruited Virgil van Dijk, Sadio Mane, Dejan Lovren, Adam Lallana, Nathaniel Clyne and Rickie Lambert of Southampton in the past six seasons, while Reds midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has also played for the Saints.
