Their findings published in the journal “Nature Medicine”, encouraging: if a person has good immunity, then he is able to successfully resist the development of coronavirus infection, avoiding the occurrence of severe, life-threatening complications.
The object of the study was a 40-year-old patient with a confirmed diagnosis of coronavirus hospitalized at the Royal Hospital. Before the illness, she was in good health. Studying the patient’s blood tests, scientists found three days after the hospitalization of the patient that the number of immune cells, which are often a sign of recovery from infection with the flu, has increased. This gave doctors reason to believe that after three days the patient will recover. And so it happened.
Thus, if the immunity is strong, then it successfully fights against pathogens, even if it has not been encountered before, scientists say. “Although COVID-19 is caused by a new virus, a healthy person develops a stable immune response to other types of cells, a clinical recovery similar to that occurs with the flu. This is a huge step forward in understanding what drives recovery in the case of this infection.” – experts stated.
