According to the police report, Poovanazhi Shemir and K Khalid of Netur Illikun, CPI(M) activists were stabbed to death in protest of reporting the sale of ganja to the police. The accused also had enmity with Shabeel, Shemir’s son, for working against drug dealing. This is in the report given in the Talasseri Judicial First District Magistrate’s Court.
On the morning of the incident, the vehicle of Jackson Vinson of the second accused was checked by the Dharmadam police. After this, suspecting that it was Shabeel, Jackson joined the first accused Parai Babu and beat Shabeel. Saying that they will discuss the matter later, Shemir, Khalid and Shanib were called out of the Thalassery Cooperative Hospital and assaulted. All three were stabbed by Parai Babu. Khalid died from a stab wound in the neck and shoulder, broken blood vessels and bleeding in the internal organs. Shemir’s death was the result of injuries to his lungs and spleen. Shanib was stabbed in the chest.
The knife is 25 cm long with a steel handle. The third accused and RSS member K Naveen and the sixth and seventh accused Arun Kumar and EK Sandeep were the ones who conspired and attacked and rescued the accused. The remand report also states that the accused has confessed.
