Hong Kong’s South China Morning Post (SCMP) reported on the 1st that a man who saved a girl from falling from an escalator was criticized online for inappropriate behavior while rescuing the girl.
On the 25th of last month, in a shopping center in Shanghai, when a girl tried to fall off an escalator, a nearby shop owner, Mr. Dingmo, rushed to save the girl. In time, a younger brother was by his side, and they saved the girl together.
His actions were hailed as heroic.
But in an instant, the situation was reversed. To document his heroic actions, the side of the shopping center released CCTV footage. In the video, it was confirmed that he touched the girl’s butt while rescuing the girl.
When this fact became known, netizens poured in criticism, saying, “It’s a rescue process, but it’s inappropriate to touch the girl’s buttocks.”
Ding protested, saying, “I don’t even remember touching the girl’s ass to save the girl.” He added, “If something like this happens next time, I won’t come forward.”
When he revealed his feelings, some netizens sympathized with Ding. Some netizens defend Mr. Ding, saying, “This is an inevitable thing that happened in the process of saving lives.”
However, many netizens still responded that touching the buttocks was inappropriate, the SCMP reported.
