LONDON (AP) – A lawyer for Julian Assange said Friday that the situation of the founder of WikiLeaks will be worse if President Donald Trump is re-elected in November than if Democratic rival Joe Biden wins. Edward Fitzgerald told Assange’s extradition hearing in London that Assange will suffer if sent to the United States to face espionage charges, regardless of who wins the November 3 election. But, he said, “it will be even worse” if Trump is re-elected. US prosecutors indicted Assange on espionage charges for WikiLeaks’ publication of US military secret documents ten years ago. Assange’s lawyers say the allegations are a politically motivated court case by the Trump administration.
