‘The past will haunt you’; Anupam Kher stands against Aamir Laal Singh Chadha boycott; Anupam Kher takes a dig at Aamir Khan

Aamir Khan’s Lal Singh Chadha is a controversial film even before its release. After its release, the film faced a major setback at the box office due to ‘boycott calls’ on social media. The film, which took months to shoot on its own, caused Aamir a huge loss. Boycott hashtags were trending heavily on social media including Twitter.

Hindutvadis protested in theaters where Lal Singh Chadha was showing insults to Hindu gods in Aamir Khan’s 2014 blockbuster PK. Aamir’s previous statement about intolerance in India was also used as a weapon by some. However, many people from the film and political fields came in support of Aamir and the film.

Meanwhile, leading Bollywood actor Anupam Kher has come out against Aamir amid the controversy. He spoke to India Today about the boycott culture that exists in India. “If someone wants to start a trend, they are free to do it. New trends are created every day on Twitter,” said Kher. The second statement was a dig at Aamir’s intolerant comment, “If you’ve said something before, it definitely comes back to haunt you.” – Dil He added that he has worked with Aamir Khan in successful films like Dil Hai Ki Manta Nahi etc. Anupam Kher’s latest release is The Kashmir Files.
