In case 2020 couldn’t get more apocalyptic, NASA scientist unveiled the possible consequences of the strange phenomenon that the Sun.
According to the information, the huge star has a phase known as “Confinement” in which its solar activity has stopped significantly.
Astronomer Tom Phillips says that this “Minimum solar activity” it could have quite catastrophic consequences for humanity.
“The solar magnetic field has weakened, allowing extra cosmic rays to filter into the Solar System,” explains Phillips.
A period similar to this occurred between 1790 and 1830; so as a consequence there were seasons of powerful frosts, famines, earthquakes and volcanic eruptions.
In addition, in this season in which the Sun reduced its activity, there was also a change in temperatures worldwide, which devastated food production.
This phenomenon in 1815 caused the eruption of Mount Tambora in Indonesia, which killed just over 71 thousand people.
