The United Nations denies Russia’s claim to use Black Sea grain carriers for an attack | Reuters

Griffiths, head of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), said on Thursday that grain was being transported from Ukraine through the Black Sea Corridor brokered by the United Nations on the night of October 29, when Russia said the Sea Black A fleet was attacked in the Crimea and there were no cargo ships sailing in the Black Sea under the agreement to carry. [国連 31日 ロイター] – Under-Secretary-General Griffiths of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) said on the 31st that Russia attacked the Black Sea Fleet in Crimea on the night of October 29, from Ukraine through the Black Sea organized by the United Nations. He said there were no cargo ships sailing in the Black Sea under contract to carry grain.

The Russian defense ministry claims that Ukraine launched 16 drone strikes against the Black Sea Fleet near Sevastopol on the Crimean peninsula on Sunday. Some have suggested that the drones could have been launched from civilian ships chartered by Ukraine or the West to transport grain from Ukrainian ports.

Ukraine, which sees the Russian navy as a legitimate military target, has neither confirmed nor denied involvement in the attack.

Speaking to the UN Security Council, Griffiths said of Russia’s claims that the cargo ship could have been used: “None of the ships had reported incidents over the weekend.”
