No all-clear in the fight against the corona virus: Chancellor Minister Helge Braun warns that Germany is facing the most difficult part of the crisis.

Chancellery Minister Helge Braun (CDU) has stressed with regard to the corona pandemic that the peak of the crisis in Germany still to come. It is now the task of Federal government“to prepare ourselves for our population for the most difficult part of this crisis,” said Braun to the “Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung”. “The time with the highest infection numbers is still ahead of us.” Before the current restrictions began, there was a “doubling every three days”. So that the healthcare system is not overwhelmed, doubling times of significantly more than ten days are necessary, Braun told the newspaper. “Probably even twelve or fourteen days.”

Regarding schools closed due to the corona pandemic, the Chancellor’s Office said the idea that children “behave 100 percent according to our distance rules in the schoolyard is not very realistic”. If they came home, they might meet their grandparents. “Then infection chains can quickly develop.”

“Economy is lagging behind”

Regarding the situation of the economy, Braun said: “The idea that we may soon no longer be able to care for some sick people in Germany because the number of infections is skyrocketing is so serious that I say: The most important thing is that we avoid this first the economy is a big step back. “

The vice-chief of the FDP parliamentary group, Katja Sudingtold the “Spiegel” that the federal government must quickly present an exit strategy. She was dissatisfied with their crisis communication: “If a government decides to take such drastic measures, it has to explain very well why they are necessary,” she said. “The government communication is not clear enough for me, it works better.”

SPD health expert Karl Lauterbach said in the news magazine: “As politicians we should not complain now, but explain to citizens the hard but necessary measures,” he said. “Who knows if they don’t even have to be tightened?” Life also gains in value if you restrict yourself for a while out of conviction in order to save other people’s lives.
