This year’s iPhone 14 has an “always on” display, limited to Pro models | Forbes JAPAN

According to Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman, this year’s iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max are expected to add an “always on” feature with a display similar to the Apple Watch.

Apple Watch has an always-on display that can display widgets such as weather, calendar, stock price, activity even when the screen is dark, but Garman wrote in his newsletter “Power On” this year’s iPhone 14 The Pro model will have similar features.

Apple announced iOS 16 at the developer conference WWDC on June 6, saying that it will place a widget on the iPhone lock screen that allows you to check information such as date, time, schedule, weather, and battery level. With the iPhone 14 Pro model, which has an always-on display, it’s likely that you’ll have instant access to this information by looking at the device on the table.

It’s still unclear what it will look like, but I think the lock screen on the Pro model of the iPhone 14 will change to a dimmed state and display information in the always-on mode. The biggest challenge with the always-on feature is battery consumption, but Apple is likely to extend battery life by reducing the display refresh rate to a minimum of 1Hz.

In the case of Apple Watch, in the always-on mode, the second hand is not displayed on the watch face that normally displays the second hand, but the iPhone 14 Pro is expected to introduce the same function.

Always-on-display smartphones have already been introduced by competitors such as Huawei, but Apple, which is lagging behind in this area, wants to deliver a better experience than other devices.
