Tipperary Man is behind gigantic Covid-19 virtual concerts

Tipperary man Declan Kelly, who is the executive producer of Saturday’s virtual concert, One World: Together at Home, paid tribute to Lady Gaga, who is hosting the all-star musical event.

Mr. Kelly, who heads the American communications company Teneo and is originally from Portroe in Nenagh, is a key figure in the global event, which includes an A-list including Paul McCartney, Elton John and Celine Dion.

Speaking to RTÉ News, he said: “It is useful to have Lady Gaga as a partner in this initiative. She has been great working with her and has played a tremendous role in encouraging a large number of artists to participate.

“Stevie Wonder, Elton John, Paul McCartney, Billie Eilish, The Killers, Taylor Swift and when they were invited by Lady Gaga, they all said yes.”

The event was launched by the international advocacy organization Global Citizen and the World Health Organization and aims to show unity among all those affected by COVID-19 and also to celebrate and support the brave workers of health that do vital work on the front line.

The virtual concert series, featuring a who’s who of music stars, will be broadcast simultaneously on RTÉ2, RTÉ and RTÉ2FM on Sunday at 7:00 p.m.

Regarding social media, the three Irish actors were delighted to support the event.

Niall Horan will also perform.
