What’s worse than being confined to your room alone for 12 days? Be confined without hot water! This morning after taking almost an hour to get out of bed, I was about to go take a shower, when I learned the news: the boiler is broken. Information that I would have done well. It must be said that the night was bad … On the health side my body seems to be getting the upper hand, the most annoying is the big blow of fatigue that overwhelms me once a day. On the moral side, I learned that one of my relatives is sick. No coronavirus, no, worse. Because we tend to forget it, but the dramatic epidemic that we are experiencing right now has not ended, with a magic wand, all other diseases. I expected this diagnosis, I was prepared for it, but it is all the more difficult to live since I can neither be close to my relatives, nor take them in my arms … I quickly chase these sad thoughts of my mind, you have to stay positive! And immediately, taking care of this boiler is the priority, if you do not want to shower in cold water for weeks …

Containment makes us creative

It must be said that it hung in our face … The boiler began to shut down on its own a few days before the start of national confinement. The heating engineer explained that there were two rooms to change. While waiting for him to receive them, he made a temporary repair, by inflating the part in lack of pressure thanks to an air compressor. He received the documents, but finally canceled the meeting after the confinement was put in place. So the inevitable has happened … The boiler refuses to restart.

Some research on the internet reveals to me that artisans choose to work or not, and that some apply additional costs. I even read that an electrician billed a “containment surcharge” of 100% during an intervention. I understand that he is afraid of being infected, but this is theft! So how do we do until April 15 (or more)? Luckily, while waiting to find a professional, the most handyman of the four of us managed to restart it using a bicycle pump … No doubt, containment makes us creative. I’m going to the bathroom! More than two days…
