The new Prius will feature a fifth generation hybrid system. The 2.0-liter inline 4-cylinder gasoline engine produces a maximum output of 194hp in the case of a US-spec vehicle with a drive system of FF. Acceleration from 0 to 96 km/h is 7.2 seconds, 26% faster than the conventional model’s 9.8 seconds.
Additionally, in the case of the US-spec AWD drive system, the 2.0-liter inline 4-cylinder gasoline engine produces a maximum output of 196hp. Acceleration from 0 to 96 km/h is 7.0 seconds. The AWD model uses an electric on-demand AWD system that drives the rear wheels with a motor. It follows a stable driving performance when starting and on slippery roads such as snow roads.
The battery is a newly developed lithium ion. The output is 15% higher than the nickel metal hydride battery of the conventional model.
