Ukraine has besieged Leman, the northern gateway city of the eastern province of Luhansk, a Ukrainian military spokesman said.

“Russian forces have been under siege in the Lehman region,” said Serhi Cherevati, spokesman for Ukraine’s Eastern Army, according to Reuters news agency on the 1st.

“Russian forces have between 5,000 and 5,500 men at Lehman,” Cherevati said.

Lehman is a transport hub located on the road to Lisichansk and Severodonetsk, the core cities of northern Luhansk Oblast. Ukraine, which recaptured Kharkiv last month, has continued to fight Russia in Lehman, the gateway city to proceed to Luhansk Oblast. .

Yesterday, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporiza and Kherson were annexed to four provinces in Ukraine and signed an agreement annexing the region to Russia.

Ukraine intends to intensify its offensive for territorial recovery regardless of the Russian annexation agreement.
