Ukraine “Unable to get electricity supply to 507 regions in 8 states”

(Reuters = Yonhap News) On the 23rd of last month (local time), the Ukrainian capital was cut off from electricity supply due to Russian missile strikes, leaving the entire city in darkness except for car lights.

(Geneva = Yonhap News) Reporter Ahn Hee = 507 areas in 8 provinces were found to be without electricity as Russian forces intensively attacked Ukraine’s energy infrastructure since October.

According to the AFP news agency, Ukrainian Deputy Interior Minister Yevgen Enin said in an interview with a local Ukrainian broadcaster on the 4th (local time) that “Russian forces are repeating attacks on critical infrastructure.”

He said, “Kharkizhuzh was the most affected by a power supply cut in 112 districts, and about 90 districts in Donetsk, Kherson, Mykolaiu, Zaporizhia, Luhansk, etc. are also cut off electricity.”

Russia has been hitting Ukraine’s energy infrastructure almost every week since early October.

On the 23rd of last month, more than 70 missiles were fired across Ukraine, causing power cuts in many places, including the capital Kiiu, Kharkiv in the north, Lviv in the west, and Odessa in the south

“Currently, almost half of Ukraine’s power grid remains damaged,” Ukrainian power company Ditec said in a statement.
