Universal Pictures shared a trailer and the first image of his upcoming biopic from Aretha Franklin, The respect. The film will star Jennifer Hudson as Queen of the Soul and is scheduled to be released in early 2021; the date of British cinema was announced on January 22.
The trailer was released for the first time last night (28) BET Awards 2020. The respect is directed by Liesl Tommy and written by Tracey Scott Wilson. Tommy is the South African-born director based in the United States and nominated for the Tony Awards. The producers of the film are Scott Bernstein and Harvey Mason Jr.
In the commercial for the film, the synopsis states: “Following the booming career of Aretha Franklin, from a child who sang in his father’s church choir to his international celebrity, The respect is the remarkable true story of the music icon’s journey to find his voice. “
