An explosion occurred this Monday mid-morning in Baltimore, Maryland, United States. The detonation, due to a gas leak, blew up several homes in the Reisterstown Road area, firefighters said on Twitter.
At least five people, including children, were stuck in the rubble. According to the American news agency The Associated Press (in English), an initial evaluation reports one death and three injured, transported in critical condition to the hospital.
The deceased victim is a woman, firefighters said.
The images published on social networks testify to the violence of the explosion, which took place around 10 am in this residential area. We see in particular the firefighters at work in the midst of the rubble. Three brick, terraced houses were blown away by the detonation. A quarter was badly damaged.
According to the first elements of the investigation, the explosion was due to a serious gas leak.
