The former head of the National Security Bureau, Suh Hoon, was arrested after over 10 hours of review, the longest since the introduction of a warrant review.

The court issued a warrant, saying that given the seriousness of the crime and Seo’s position, there is a risk of destroying evidence.

In particular, it was found that the press conference at the end of October was judged to have an impact on the statements of current public officials.

After Lee Dae-joon, a public official at the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, died, everyone who attended the related ministerial meeting denied the allegations through a press conference, except former Defense Minister Seo-wook.

“I have never been driven to North Korea without grounds, and there is no reason or benefit to do so. There was no order to delete the data.”

The prosecution is said to have also presented statements by former Minister Seo and former Korean Coast Guard chief Kim Hong-hee that the announcement contained instructions from the former chief of staff and the National Security Bureau to eliminate military intelligence. and an announcement of voluntary defection to North Korea.

The prosecution will begin a full investigation on Monday (5th).

While he flatly denies the allegation, it is expected that he will focus on finding contradictions by comparing the statements of Seo’s former boss and working-level officials.

Whether former President Moon Jae-in, who said he approved the report at the time, ordered it is also under investigation.

The Audit and Inspection Board previously announced that after the Security Office made its first face-to-face report to former President Moon, he had presented false grounds for defecting to North Korea, such as “Lee was on his himself wearing a life jacket,” at a meeting of related ministers Unable to verify.

Director Seo’s side said, “In order to guarantee the right to defense, investigation and trial without detention is necessary.”

The review of suitability for detention is a procedure for asking the court to decide whether the detention is lawful and whether it needs to continue. The key is whether there has been a change in circumstances, so the future progress of the investigation is variable .
