[현장연결] President Yoon “Export is the foundation of the economy and the foundation of the economy and the source of jobs”

President Yoon Seok-yeol attended the 59th Trade Day ceremony held at COEX in Seoul a while ago.

It is a place to encourage and reward export entrepreneurs.

Let’s watch the live video of President Yoon’s congratulatory speech that has just started.

[윤석열 / 대통령]

I would like to congratulate the traders who received the Export Tower once again.

Dear traders, Although there are concerns about the global economic recession due to high prices, high interest rates and high exchange rates, we have achieved excellent export results this year.

Semiconductor exports recorded 10 billion dollars per month for 17 consecutive months, and petroleum product exports hit a record high of 5 billion dollars for 7 consecutive months.

By winning a 3 trillion order for the Eldaba nuclear power plant project in Egypt and signing a large-scale defense export contract worth 12.4 billion dollars with Poland, we reached an all-time high of 17 billion dollars in defense exports.

Exports of agricultural and fishery products also exceeded 10 billion dollars annually for two consecutive years.

In particular, the world export position has risen from 7th to 6th last year, and this year’s record export performance of over 680 billion dollars is just around the corner.

Many foreign leaders I met are very interested in our high-tech industry and have asked for cooperation with Korean companies.

This achievement was possible thanks to the sweat and dedication of all of you who have pioneered the global market with excellent technology and a challenging spirit.

Once again, thank you very much.

Traders, as I said while presiding over the export strategy meeting, exports are always a strong support for our economy, and exports are the backbone of our economy and a source of jobs.

We also overcame the oil shock crisis in the 1970s and the global financial crisis in 2008 by breaking through directly through exports.

Now, the global complex crisis also needs to find a breakthrough in exports.

The Government will deploy all export support capabilities to become one of the top five export powerhouses by 2026.

Along with the export strategy meeting that I am chairing, the One Stop Export Order Support Group will solve difficulties related to winning export orders for Korean companies in a timely manner.

In addition, we will greatly expand the necessary support for export activities such as trade finance, marketing and logistics.

In this way, the Government will help Korean companies with strong export potential to actively advance into the global market.

The President’s summit diplomacy is a great opportunity to support the overseas expansion of Korean companies.

Moving forward, we will ensure that the diplomacy of such a summit is conducted with a thorough focus on promoting the export and expansion of Korean companies abroad.

Nuclear power, defense, infrastructure construction, and K content, which have confirmed our potential in Egypt, Poland, and Saudi Arabia, must be actively cultivated as our new main export industries.

We will further expand our FTA network by promoting new FTAs with emerging markets with high growth potential, such as the Middle East, Central and South America, and Africa.

I do not forget the voices of the young traders I met at the Korea International Trade Association in March this year.

The Government will help young people realize their dreams of being at the forefront of commerce by supporting educational programs so they can adapt to the digitization of commerce and logistics.

Proud traders, Korea’s exports have written a history of growth and leap despite numerous crises.

All of you here are the main characters. The Government will always be with you traders so that they can run to their fullest across the world.

I will work with you at the forefront of exporting. Thank you
