Cargo union strike rallies city center for second week… Government’s ‘harsh response’

[앵커]

The general strike by the cargo union is in its second week.

The Cargo Solidarity is protesting the government’s harsh response by holding relay rallies throughout downtown Seoul.

The government is still adopting a strict response policy.

Yes, it’s in front of the SK Seorin Building in Seoul.

Cargo Solidarity members held a meeting to solve the whole problem here.

The Cargo Solidarity is in a position to ask the management to proceed with the negotiations, while dealing with the abolition of the sunset of the safe price system as an agenda.

While the general strike of the cargo union is in its second week, today we plan to hold a relay rally in front of the headquarters of major oil refineries in Seoul to continue the strike.

Yesterday, large-scale competitions were held to publicize the general strike in 15 regions across the country, including Uiwang and Incheon.

The Korean Confederation of Trade Unions argued that “the level of repression to neutralize the struggle is going too far” and that “the consensus that this should be stopped is expanding.”

Following the construction union, the Service Federation also announced a solidarity strike, and tensions are rising.

The Cargo Solidarity argues that the government’s request to order the start of business is an anti-constitutional and anti-labour policy.

A complaint was filed with the Human Rights Commission to withdraw the government’s business start-up order, but it was rejected, and legal proceedings were filed against the Minister for Lands, Infrastructure and Transport to cancel the business start-up order in Court Seoul Administrative.

However, the government maintains a firm stand that it will take strict action if the order is not followed.

After issuing a start-up order in the cement industry, union members who took part in the strike are returning one by one, and the government is reviewing additional start-up orders for oil and steel refining.

In particular, it is expected that the conflict between the government and the government will continue for the time being as the policy is to work together with the police to ensure that investigations and punishments can be carried out if an illegal act occurs.
