Anushanti gets bail for double life murder-Attingal | Supreme Court of Crime| Manorama News

NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court has granted bail to Anushanti, the accused in the Atingal double murder case. Bail was granted on health grounds. The bail is pending disposal of Anushanti’s petition to quash the sentence. Anushanti was given a double life sentence in the case of killing the baby and the mother-in-law.

The brutal crime happened on April 16, 2014 at noon. The investigation team found that the double murder was the result of an extreme love affair between Nino Mathew, a project manager in an IT company in Technopark, and Anushanti, a team leader. Anushanti and Ninov killed their own four year old daughter Swastika and her husband Omana to live together. Anushanti’s husband, Lijeesh, was seriously injured during the attack.

Chief Sessions Judge V. has stated that Nino Mathew’s girlfriend, who killed Swastika, a child, with a stick taller than her to satisfy her lust, has no right to live on this earth. Judged by Shirzi Kolakayar. The court was of the opinion that Anusanti’s complicity in killing her grandchildren was an insult to motherhood itself. The court noted that they were exempt from the death penalty because they were women and did not directly participate in the crime given their physical disabilities. Both were fined Rs 62.5 lakh each. The defendants left the courtroom and went to prison showing no shock or sadness at the verdict and no remorse for the crime they had committed.
