Epic Games Korea (CEO Park Seong-cheol) announced on the 5th that it is introducing a new Chapter 4 Season 1 to ‘Fortnite’.
In Chapter 4, 5 new areas have been added, including ‘Shattered Slabs’ where you can get ‘Kinetic Ore’. You can increase your power through ‘augmented reality’, and you can move or play in new ways, such as mountain biking, rolling in snowballs, and lifting with a shockwave hammer.
Maps such as ‘Citadel’, a castle controlled by Ageless, ‘Anvil Square’, a peaceful village located in the forest, and ‘Frenzy Fields’, an abandoned farm, appear. With ‘Kinetic Ore’ obtained from the ‘Shattered Slabs’ mining facility, you can strategically attack enemies by creating magical effects. Also, in Brutal Bastion, the headquarters of snow covered warriors, hitting the snow with a pickaxe creates a ‘snowball’, and it is also possible to attack enemies by jumping into the snowball and rolling.
This season introduces ‘augmented reality’ as a new enhancement element. You can increase your power by choosing one of two reality augmentations that are introduced periodically and randomly during the game. Reality Augment is 22, and you can use ‘light fingers’ which speed up the reloading process of small bullet weapons, ‘mechanical snipers’ which give you mechanical explosive bows and mechanical shockwave bows, and ‘aerators’ which allows you to reposition your glider for the rest of the game.
A variety of weapons and items have also been added. You can use weapons like ‘Excalibur Rifle’, ‘Thunder Shotgun’ and ‘Maven Automatic Shotgun’, including ‘Shock Wave Hammer’ which can damage and blow away opponents at the same time. The healing items ‘Slap Berry’ and ‘Slap Juice’ increase effective HP and increase energy regeneration duration. Also, if you come into contact with ‘Sky Jellyfish’ floating around the map, you can increase your effective HP. You can ride a ‘Trail Thrasher’, a mountain bike, and perform stunts or use weapons while moving.
The Season 1 Episode 4 Battle Pass has also been revealed. If you buy it, ‘Selene’ will be unlocked immediately. Collaboration outfits such as ‘Doom Slayer’ from the Doom series and ‘Geralt of Rivia’ from The Witcher series, as well as Fortnite’s own ‘Ageless’, ‘Masai’, ‘Dusty’ and ‘Nezumi’ outfits have also unlock them can do.
Unreal Engine 5.1, the latest version of Unreal Engine 5, is applied to Chapter 4, allowing users to experience truly next-generation high-quality games. Innovative features such as Nanite, Lumen, Virtual Shadow Map, and Temporal Super Resolution allow millions of polygons to be rendered at 60 fps, and realize realistic light and shadow to enjoy next generation visual quality.
