The Ministry of Science and ICT (hereafter referred to as the ‘Ministry of Science and ICT’) has just established the Quantum Technology Development Support Division and the Digital Platform Government Support Division as ‘ministerial’ organisations. Its aim is to realize the key state affairs tasks of the Ministry of Science and ICT, such as fostering quantum technology, which is considered one of the key technologies of the future, and implementing a digital platform government, the government’s new operating system.
The establishment of this organization used the ‘autonomous organization system’ which allows the establishment and operation of departmental units independently under the responsibility of the head of the organisation. The ‘autonomous organization system’ is a temporary organization at manager level that can be established and operated independently by departments under the agency head’s responsibility to promote state affairs and the head’s priority projects, and to respond to issues emergency in progress. ■ The implementation period is 6 months and can be extended once.
The Ministry of Science and ICT explained that it is meaningful as it is implemented under the direct control of the minister through the ‘autonomous organization system’ to respond quickly and responsibly to the government’s support tasks in the bilateral field and digital platform.
■ Quantum Technology Development Support Division = The Ministry of Science and ICT selected quantum technology as one of the 12 national strategic technologies last October, and intensively supports the development of quantum technology, such as mission-oriented core technology development, professional manpower training, and strengthening cooperation international.
By establishing the ‘Quantum Technology Development Support Division’, the quantum technology promotion tasks, which are scattered within the department for all areas such as computing, communications and sensors, will be integrated to focus on technology cultivation quantum in the country. level.
In particular, with the establishment of a quantum technology strategic roadmap, based on this, ▲ planning and promoting research and development and support projects across quantum technology, and ▲ maintaining the process infrastructure necessary for the development of quantum technology.
