In Mexico, a full-term woman was murdered after she was offered free clothes for her newborn baby.

According to local dailies such as El Universal and El Financiero on the 4th (local time), Rosa Isella (20) was found dead in a farmhouse near the port of Veracruz in eastern Mexico the day before.

Isela’s family had informed the police that she was missing, saying, “(She) left the house on the 30th of last month and did not return home.”

It turned out that Isela decided to meet the person who posted the article “Sharing newborn clothes” on the social network service (SNS), and lost contact after going out.

Prosecutors, who launched an investigation based on family statements and Isela’s final actions, said they had arrested two suspects, named Veronica ‘N’ and Gonzalo ‘N’.

At the time of the arrest, they were carrying a newborn baby believed to be Isela’s child. The child was immediately taken to hospital and is receiving treatment.

The Veracruz Prosecutor’s Office announced on Twitter, “At the time of the two arrests, there was a newborn child with them, and this child was rescued safely and is receiving the attention of the relevant authorities.”

Prosecutors are classifying this case as a femicide, which is being treated seriously in Mexico, and are looking into the details of the two suspects.

Mexican authorities also urged caution not to be victimized by similar crimes that lure innocent citizens to share for free as bait on social media.

In Mexico, it is reported that more than 1,000 cases of feminization against women, including sexual assault, murder and human trafficking, have been reported in the past year.
