[서울=뉴스핌] Reporter Chae Song-moo = On the morning of the 25th, North Korea launched a ballistic missile into the East Sea.

The Joint Chiefs of Staff confirmed that “North Korea fired an unidentified ballistic missile into the East Sea” this morning.

The photo shows the North Korean version of the ‘Geumsong-3’ cruise missile.

It was previously known that North Korea was preparing to launch a submarine-launched ballistic missile (SLBM) from the Sinpo area of South Hamgyong Province.

Analysts have also raised that this could be a reaction against the US nuclear aircraft carrier Ronald Reagan arriving at the Busan Operation Base on the 23rd and conducting joint South Korean-US exercises.

President Yoon Seok-yeol, after completing his trip to Canada in response to signs of such provocation, held a security situation check meeting at Air Force Unit 1 with Foreign Minister Park Jin, National Security Bureau Director Kim Seong -han, First Deputy Director of the National Security Bureau Kim Tae-hyo, and Foreign Secretary Lee Moon-hee, and other foreign and security advisers to assess the situation.

After receiving a report from the Minister of Defense on possible actions on the ROK side in the event of a provocation, President Yoon ordered that the pre-prepared countermeasures be immediately implemented if the situation arises.
