Unusually strong cold wave in November… Seoul -9 degrees colder tomorrow

[앵커]

In November’s unusually cold snap, the weather suddenly changed to mid-winter.

The temperature dropped by about 20 degrees in one day.

The forecast is that tomorrow will be colder than today.

This is reporter Kim Jae-hoon’s report.

On my way to work in the morning occupied by General Dong.

Citizens hastened their steps in the sudden cold weather.

I’m wrapped up in a thick padded sweater and even a scarf, but my body is shrinking from the fierce cold wind.

The mild weather turned into mid-winter in just one day.

In Imnam-myeon, Cheorwon, Gangwon-do, the temperature dropped to minus 17.1 degrees Celsius and in Seoul to -6.9 degrees Celsius.

In November, for the first time in history, a cold wave warning was issued across the country.

The sudden cold wave is caused by the changing jet stream from the north.

As the jet stream hovering around the North Pole loosened, the cold arctic air that reached -30 degrees Celsius penetrated the sky over the Korean Peninsula.

Tomorrow the cold air will be pushed down and the temperature will drop even more.

The morning temperature in Seoul will drop to around 10 degrees below zero.

As the cold air passes over the warm sea, snow clouds also develop in the Western Sea.

“A little more snow is expected between November 30th and December 1st, focusing on the west coast which has been affected by the snow cloud belt.”

In Chungcheong, Honam, and Jeju, as much as 7 cm of snow is expected to accumulate, so care is needed for traffic safety.

The Korea Meteorological Administration predicted that the cold this week would ease over the weekend.
